Overview
The Application Process
We require your application, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, medical transcript, USMLE-Part I scores and Dean's Letter. After receiving Dean's Letters in November, we will begin notifying applicants for interviews.
We will be interviewing on two Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings in the months of November, December and January. Interviews will be granted on a rolling basis once we have received and reviewed your completed application.
Format of the Interview Day
Interviews are granted by invitation only after a complete review of application materials submitted to the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please plan to arrive in the Duke University Medical Center Emergency Department waiting room by 7:50 a.m. on your interview day. I will meet you in Emergency Department waiting room and escort you to Room 2619 on the second floor of the Emergency Department where your day will begin at 8:00 a.m. A light continental breakfast will be provided. Please let me know if you will need a vegetarian meal.
The day consists of interviews, a tour of the facilities at Duke, and lunch. During lunch, you will have the opportunity to meet with emergency medicine residents. The day should conclude at approximately 2:00 pm. Please call 919-681-2247 for more information.
Getting to Duke
If you are flying to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, the closest airport is the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), located in the Research Triangle Park between Raleigh and Durham. The airport is approximately 15 minutes from Duke. Cabs and rental cars are available at the airport.

Parking at Duke North
Duke North Hospital Parking
The parking deck for Duke University Hospital is located across Erwin Road from the hospital.
The parking deck for Duke University Hospital has an underground walkway and shuttle service to the hospital. The shuttle terminal is located on the "RT" level of the Duke University Hospital parking deck. Also on the "RT" level is a well-lit, securely monitored underground walkway to the hospital.
A second parking deck (Parking Garage III) is available for Duke Hospital Parking as well as for the Ambulatory Surgical Center and Bone Marrow Transplant Center. This garage is attached to North Pavilion Building off Fulton Road, about three blocks from the main Duke Hospital Entrance.
Oversized Vehicles
Parking for oversized vehicles is located adjacent to the Duke University Hospital parking deck. To obtain a pass for an oversized vehicle, call (919) 684-5773.
Parking Fees
Hospital parking fees are based on an hourly rate (currently, $1/hour).
Administrative Offices
